Walk/Bike to School Month
Lori Kirtley

October is “Walk/Bike to School” month. We would like to encourage parents and students to walk or bike to school during October. Our goal is to inspire more people to walk or bike to school all year long. If you live too far away to walk, consider parking several blocks away and walking the rest of the way with your child.

When your child walks or bikes to school during October make sure he/she signs their name in the appropriate notebook in the foyer as well as stamps their hand with the Walk-to-School stamp. Any student who walks or bikes to school 7 times in October will get a charm to put on their backpack at the end of the month and be a member of the Walk-to-School Club.

The Mileage Club also starts on October 1 and will continue until the end of November. Students in grades 2-4 can walk or run around the track during noon recess. We will keep a record of the miles they walk/run. Students will earn a charm for their backpack for each 5 miles and become a member of the Mileage Club.
